WHAT IS RECRUITMENT PROCESS OUTSOURCING AKA RPO?
The RPO Alliance defines Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) as “a form of business process outsourcing (BPO) where an employer transfers all or part of its recruitment processes to an external service provider.” An RPO is distinctively different than traditional contingent or retained search services in that the RPO provider handles all or part of the end-to-end employment process based on the needs of the employer. Parts of overall process generally include job description development - determination of candidate sourcing methods - recruitment - board postings - interview panel selectiion - scheduling - interviewing - reference and background checking - hiring - and onboarding. An RPO provider might be contracted by an employer to do all or part of these various components.
WHY WOULD AN EMPLOYER WANT AN RPO?
- Frees up hiring authorities to do their job - thereby avoiding lost opportunity associated with spending lots of time writing job descriptions, identifying candidate sourcing methods, scheduling interviews, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding candidates.
- Frees up human resources staff to support the business by focusing on other high value opportunity areas like employee relations, organization development, training, benefits management and cost control, and safety - to name a few.
- Establish state-of-the-art process designed to identify, attract, and hire top talent.
- Quality – focused approach and staffing expertise results in improved ability to find and hire the right person.
- Speed - reduction in time-to-hire.
- Cost is variable, not fixed.
- Highly customizable.
